Kappa Sigma brings the noise, funk

This coverage was the result of a 12-part concert series that I promoted and helped arrange at Boston’s popular afterHOURS club on Northeastern University’s campus. This series celebrated the spring of 2005 by combining local talent with major name bands, and State Radio was a big part of the series.

Student Group Synergy, a networking event that was near and dear to my heart, received good coverage in the Northeastern News, the campus newspaper.

In addition to a focus on networking, it was a time for me to share my experience in public relations and teach college student group officers how to promote and market themselves.

Student Group Synergy was one of my favorite events to put together over the years. It was an event that I could really be creative with and bring a ton of people into the room to meet and work together. It was a way to get college students to network and utilize the resources of their peers.

For the second annual Kappa Sigma Night of Comedy, the annual comedy show at Northeastern University, Jay Mohr put on an amazing show and is widely regarded as the best show we’ve done in the five year span of the program.

Opening the show with a good-natured jab at NU students at the five-year co-op college, Mohr said, “I was going to do 40 minutes, but since it’s Northeastern, I’ll do 50. Because why do in four years what you could do in five?” He won over the audience and it was all up-hill from there.

It was coverage generated from a safe after-party thrown after a major concert on Northeastern’s campus. Over 1,000 concert-goers were kept safe and indoors after the show and entertained with pizzas an soda, a poker tournament and dozens of prizes.
